With heavy hearts the family of the late Florence Kenny Walsh (loving wife of the late David Walsh) wish to announce she passed away peacefully at the age of 95 on 7th of December 2022 after a brief time in palliative care at Saint Brigid’s Home with her family at her side.

Her funeral will be celebrated along with her late husband David Walsh who passed away 10th of May 2021. His obituary was published then.

Florence is survived by her loving son Benjamin (Kimberly Perry), step grandchildren Matthew (Gina), Travis (Sarah), Melodie (Kevin) and 7 step great grandchildren whom she adored. She is also survived by her sister Jeannette (John Cummings) sister-in-law Joan Luckman (late Gerry Kenny) and sister-in-law Nancy (late George Hurst) and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her siblings Jacqueline, Patrick, Gerry, and Evelyn (late Reggie Johnston)

Florence was kind, caring and loving to everyone who knew her. She was a very sociable person.

Florence was born the daughter of William Kenny and Marie Lapierre, the eldest of 6. She was born on Claire-Fontaine and then resided on Artillery Street during her youth. She attended Leonard school and worked as a secretary for Dunn & Bradstreet and at CARDE in Valcartier. She loved sports like skiing and sharp shooting, and she loved to travel around the world. In 1966 she met the love of her life. They married in 1968 and went to Ireland. In 1970 she became a mother and a stay-at-home mom to their only child Benjamin. Florence had a passion for plays concerts and recitals. She was a faithful parishioner and dedicated volunteer. She attended Saint Patrick’s church, where she was a member of the choir, CWL and morning prayer group. She helped out at coffee duty, sales and luncheons. She loved the Saint Patrick’s Day banquets where she enjoyed a good meal and Irish music. She was a member of Irish Heritage Quebec where she attended many interesting meetings as well as outings to Grosse Ile.

Mom loved restaurants, especially Veau d’Or and her meals had to be a table d’hôte. She had to have her potage and dessert, or it wasn’t called a meal. She loved her soups. This was usually followed by a car ride which she was up for at anytime. Florence loved volunteering at bingo at Saint Brigid’s Home and passing out communion with her husband to all the residents. She was a very dedicated guild member who loved to help manage the store which she took much pride in.

In the last years of her life, her memory was starting to fade and in 2021 she entered Saint Brigid’s home as a resident in the place that meant so much to her. She spent her past time doing puzzles, word searches, etc. She enjoyed her bird books and going for many walks in the garden.

The family would like to give thanks and appreciation to the staff of the 3rd floor for their wonderful care given to Florence, too many names to mention. Thank you to caregiver Johanne Lachance for the excellent care given to mom during her first months at the home and to our dear friend and mom’s guardian angel caregiver Caroline Calderon for the excellent care, love and support given for the last year. Thank you to the both of you for the many activities and the quality one on one time you spent with mom, it brought her much joy.

A special thanks to dear friends Frank and Rosemary Scardina for their wonderful friendship, comfort and support given to mom before her passing.
