Pierre Lapointe
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of M. Pierre Lapointe on October 3, 2024, in Québec City, at the age of 74. In recent years, he fought many battles against illness, surrounded and loved by his wife, Catherine, and his children Rachel (Sébastien Lalonde) and Gabriel. He is also mourned by his sister Lucie (Clive Willis), his brother Michel, his niece Lauren, his nephew François, his stepsons Michael and Vincent, and the mother of his children, Hélène Bouillon.
Pierre, a learned man with a passion for law, began his career as a private practice lawyer in 1977. He became a Deputy Attorney General in 1983. He was noted for his sense of justice, his rigor, and his courtesy towards all parties. In 2002, he was appointed Chief Deputy Attorney General of the Criminal Affairs Bureau of the Public Prosecution Service. From 2013 until his retirement in 2015, he held the position of Special Advisor to the Director of Criminal and Penal Prosecutions. He was a reference in the field of criminal law due to his ability to synthesize information and his capacity to accomplish enormous tasks. He taught at Université Laval and at l’École du Barreau du Québec for several years, during which he was highly appreciated by the students. He received numerous awards for excellence and distinction throughout his career. Among his many personal interests were history, art, fishing, football and cooking.
The family will receive condolences on Friday, October 11, 2024, from 9 am to 11 am at the Maison Gomin Funeral Complex in Quebec City. A celebration of his life will take place at 11 am, in the chapel of the same location.
